In collaboration with Stavanger Maritime Museum and Kongsberg Discovery, RTS is providing advanced equipment and expertise to support archaeologists in mapping important underwater cultural heritage sites. These range from medieval trading hubs at Avaldsnes to the shipwreck Dresden in Karmsundet.

The museum’s new vessel, Must, is now equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and multibeam echosounders, and has already been in action at Kvitsøy.

As a local company with headquarters on Karmøy and daily work in the subsea and energy industry, it is especially meaningful for us to contribute to research and the preservation of history in our own region.

Our own Raymond Myge puts it well:
– As someone from Karmøy, I grew up surrounded by history, not least from the Viking Age and medieval Avaldsnes. That makes it extra rewarding to see how modern technology can give archaeologists new insights into our past.
