UK Sales Engineer

The role

The Sales Engineer role is responsible for managing customer relationships and supporting the commercial delivery
of equipment rental and sales solutions to the subsea and offshore industries.
The role acts as a key technical and commercial interface between RTS and its customers, ensuring that client
requirements are understood and translated into appropriate technical and commercial solutions. This includes
supporting the preparation of quotations, managing contracts, coordinating equipment availability, and ensuring the
timely execution of customer orders.

The Sales Engineer works closely with internal teams including operations, engineering, logistics and finance to ensure
equipment is prepared, mobilised and delivered in line with customer expectations and contractual requirements.
The position requires the ability to manage multiple customer accounts simultaneously within a fast-paced operational environment, while maintaining high standards of communication, customer service and commercial awareness.
The role may also involve supporting customers outside normal working hours where operational requirements demand timely responses.

Responsibilities

The following is a list of responsibilities associated with the role. This includes but is not limited to:

Customer and Technical Support
  • Act as the primary technical and commercial point
    of contact for assigned customers, providing
    guidance on suitable RTS equipment and solutions
    to meet operational requirements.
  •  Maintain regular communication with customers to understand project requirements, timelines and equipment needs.
  • Provide technical liaison between customers and internal engineering or operational teams to ensure
    customer requirements are fully understood and delivered.
  • Support customers with equipment enquiries, project planning and mobilisation requirements.
  • Respond to customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner, including where required
    supporting on-call or out-of-hours requests
Sales and Contract Management
  • Prepare and issue quotations for equipment rental and sales opportunities.
  • Manage customer contracts including rental periods, amendments, extensions and pricing
    alignment with agreed commercial terms.
  • Ensure all customer orders are accurately processed and recorded within internal systems.
  • Manage multiple client accounts simultaneously, ensuring strong communication and service
    delivery across ongoing enquiries and active contracts.
  • Monitor project timelines and ensure customer requirements are delivered within agreed timescales
Operational Coordination
  • Work closely with operations, logistics and engineering teams to coordinate equipment availability and mobilisation.
  • Monitor the progress of equipment preparation and ensure readiness for customer mobilisation schedules.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure effective communication between operational functions
    within the business.
  • Support coordination of cross-hire equipment where required to meet customer demand.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation associated with sales and rental activities is accurately maintained
Business Development and
Market Awareness
  • Identify new opportunities with existing and prospective customers within relevant market sectors.
  • Maintain awareness of new technologies and equipment relevant to RTS and the wider subsea industry.
  • Support marketing activities, exhibitions and customer visits where required.
  • Contribute to maintaining high equipment utilisation through proactive engagement with customers
Compliance and
Commercial Awareness
  • Maintain an understanding of export control regulations relevant to subsea and technical
    equipment where applicable.
  • Ensure commercial activities align with company procedures, contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the business in maintaining professional standards in all customer interactions
Experience and Qualification

The following qualifications and experience are deemed desirable for the role:

  •  HNC/D, or Degree Qualification in relevant Business or Engineering qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Previous offshore survey experience preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience within a Junior Sales or Sales Engineer role, rental experience preferred but not essential.
  • Proficient experience of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Insphire ERP Software preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of invoicing, order processing, and inventory management processes.
  • Experience with sales report and data analysis.
Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong communication skills – working with staff clients and vendors
  • InspHire Database Administration is beneficial but not a necessity
